Mayweather vs Pacquiao weigh in big hit with fans
Whether they call it the Battle for Greatness or the Fight of the Century, before Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. can step into the ring, they first have to weigh in. Here we are on Friday, May 1, one day before the fight at the MGM Grand Resort Casino, site of the fight and weigh in.
This fight has been breaking all records financially, and the weigh-in is no different. This is the first time an admission has been charged for a weigh-in, but the tickets sold out in just over an hour and before today, the prices for the 10 dollar tickets were hundreds of dollars on the after market ticket seller sites.
Saturday’s fight will be at the 147-pound welterweight class so both fighters will have to meet that limit to qualify for the bout. They won’t be trying to bulk up to the weight, they can weigh less if they want, they can’t weigh more than 147 pounds. That can be difficult, which is often one of the big challenges when training for a fight.
Both Mayweather and Pacquiao are seasoned veterans and champions so it is a good bet — and this is Las Vegas so you can bet on it — it’s a good bet the fighters will have no trouble making that weight.
