Where Has All the Time Gone By?
Well I’m looking back
Now I’m turning back
All the pages of days gone past
Growing with the changes
That gave way to circumstance
I remember your cooking
And home made apple pie
Dad playing ball with us
And teaching us how to drive
I remember being ill at times
With you there at my side
Oh this song I sing is one I bring
With all my love tonight
Where has all the time gone by?
When laughter was the language shared
And tears were never feared
Where has all the time gone by?
I guess you’ve known
We must have grown
One day we’d be on our own
Packing trunks full of memories
For the lonely days
One moved to Ft. Lauderdale
To the comfort of the sun
Starting life all over
Finding a new love
One stayed in the hometown
And lives all alone
While eking out a living
Calling independence his home
Where has all the time gone by?
When laughter was the language shared
And tears were never feared
Where has all the time gone by?
Now I am in Chicago
And still I can’t forget
That forever wanting the country
But having no regrets
Oh the changes we all go thru
Seem to happen all at once
We live and learn and love and hurt
And try to readjust
But in the end we all survive
As we look back into our lives
And we wonder, yes we wonder
Oh we wonder, yes we wonder
Oh we wonder
Where has all the time gone by?
