Summer concert season winds down with big acts
Labor Day is in the rear-view mirror and kids are back in school, but I just can’t let go of that hunger for just a little more outdoor music.
So before the chilly weather sets in and chases us back indoors, here’s a few shows coming up to be enjoyed outside in the elements, as summer intended.
Saturday: Jason Aldean with Kane Brown & Carly Pearce, Jiffy Lube Live, Bristow, VA
The multi-platinum singer has ushered in more than four billion digital streams while selling over 18 million albums and earning 23 No.1 radio hits.
Aldean is only the second country act in history to score four consecutive chart-toppers on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart with his current album, “Rearview Town,” with six of his previous LPs having achieved Platinum certification or better. Tickets for his “Ride All Night” tour can be found here.
Sept: 13 Stone Temple Pilots & Rival Sons, MECU Pavilion, Baltimore
The 90s grunge (and much more) legends celebrate the 25th anniversary of their No. 1 album “Purple” with a three-disc Super Deluxe Edition that includes a completely remastered version of the original release, early versions and demos, and a live disc from their Aug. 23, 1994 performance at New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The release date is scheduled for Oct. 13, but why not take a trip down to Pier Six and get a jump on the festivities?
STP & Rival Sons will also be making a second Maryland stop at O.C. Bikefest in Ocean City the next day. Tickets for the MECU show can be found here and BikeFest tickets here.
Sept. 29: WPOC Sunday In The Country Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia
The all-day blowout at the newly renovated MPP is scheduled to include performances from Old Dominion, Michael Ray, Jordan Davis, Lauren Alaina, Dylan Scott, Brandon Lay and Filmore.
If you haven’t been to Merriweather lately you’re in for a treat.
The new pavilion roof is anchored on both sides by two Skylawns, raised viewing platforms with a real grass-terraced floor. The view of the stage is really great if you manage a spot near the rail, libation stations are on board and no additional ticket required.
No lawn chairs are allowed for this show so be sure to bring a blanket if you’re enjoying from the lawn. Tickets are available here.
