MECU Pavilion Becomes Summer Jam Band Central

It’s pavilion season friends, and MECU Pavilion has stacked up three of the Jam Band scene’s big guns to heat up your summer nights right here in downtown Baltimore.

Thursday, 7 p.m.: Gov’t Mule with special guests The Record Company

Fresh off the release of “Bring on the Music: Live at the Capitol Theater,” Warren Haynes, Matt Abts, Danny Louis and Jorgen Carlsson kick off the trifecta with a big dose of Southern blues-fueled rock.

Haynes is a pillar of the Jam community, with a resume that includes stints with The Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh & Friends, and The Dead, as well as drop-ins with damn near everyone from the Dave Matthews Band to that paint bucket thumping busker at the subway platform.

Saturday, 5:30 p.m.: moe. co-headlining with Blues Traveler and special guest G Love

There’s a place in this world for a rock ‘n’ roll xylophonist.

And that place is moe.

Put about 30 years in the circuit and you can pretty much play whatever instrument you please.

Having just completed hosting their summer festival moe.down, the upstate New York quintet hits the road with Blues Traveler with individual and collaborative sets.

And check out that start time. You know that’s going to be a full night!

Aug. 1, 6:30 p.m.: Greensky Bluegrass

Wrapping up the trilogy are the apex pickers and strummers of the jam-grass segment, Greensky Bluegrass.

The band’s latest album “All for Money” was released earlier this year. My three-word review of it would be “it’s really good,” and they’re likely to play a song or two from it so go check it out.

All seating for Greensky will be general admission, so get you tickets and come early for one of the really good seats.
