Bigfoot Update: Melba Ketchum to release high-definition video of Sasquatch
(Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization claim this is a baby Bigfoot. Others say it’s a bear.)
Bigfoot DNA scientist Dr. Melba Ketchum is back at it again.
She unveiled another explosive claim — she has a high-definition video of Sasquatch that she says is a hybrid between a human and an animal.
This follows her claim she submitted more than 100 samples of DNA evidence to independent researchers who confirmed her findings that Bigfoot exists. Check our previous story on her claims and study here.
She never released the names of those scientists but did issue a press release about her findings, which immediately puts her study in question by the scientific community, who rather not go public with things until they can be checked out in and reviewed. The findings she says are under peer-review and to be published in a scientific journal. She doesn’t say which journal or who is reviewing her work either. Once the study is published, the video will be released to the public.
Ketchum, who runs DNA Diagnostics Inc. in Texas, told Fox 8 News in Salem, the “Hi-Def video of some Sasquatch it’s quite remarkable. It’s amazing.” On her website, the staff at DNA consists of only Ketchum.
Ketchum is a veterinarian who specializes in DNA testing, such as telling you where your dog came from. She told Fox 8 News her company started analyzing tissue samples collected about five years ago collected by people trying to prove the existence of Bigfoot.
“We have saliva, we have bark scraping, we have blood we have a little bit of everything,” Ketchum said.
She was skeptical like most scientists until she said she saw the results.
And what did the science tell her in layman’s terms?
“They’re Human-Hybrid,” she told the Salem Fox reporter. “So they are a type of people but they’re different from us.”
Her profile on the site says the following:
Dr. Ketchum is the founder of DNA Diagnostics. Established in 1985, DNA Diagnostics has become a leader in all types of DNA testing including: human and animal forensics, human and animal paternity and parentage testing, disease diagnostics, trait tests, animal and human identity testing, species identification and sex determination. Most common species of animals are tested at DNA Diagnostics. Dr. Ketchum has also established a research program ranging from gene mapping to developing the VeriSNP™ (patent pending) platform for universal genetic evaluation in multiple species of animals. Other research includes genetics of disease, population genetics and other genetically important traits such as coat color in animals. Dr. Ketchum is a past three-term Chairperson of the International Society for Animal Genetics Equine Genetics Standing Committee. She has also been Dog Map Chairperson and a Committee member on the Dog and Cat Parentage Committee. She is a former Treasurer for AFDAA, The Association of DNA Analysts and Administrators. She aided in the analysis of the DNA sequences from the World Trade Center Disaster.
Sound impressive? Ready for the smoking-gun video?
Don’t get your hopes up. She is working on a documentary and the video might be just old clips she may be using in her “Sasquatch: The Tribe Revealed” media project, which was submitted to the United States Copyright website in 2010.
Meanwhile she has been vigorously defending herself on Twitter.
Some of her tweets:
“The journal just has to have the guts to go where no journal has gone before. I personally believe they will do it.” And then she points to a new monkey species discovered.
Several news articles questioned her ethics — she is promoting a documentary.
She responded to her critics by tweeting: “A lot of other testing and disciplines too. We used blind studies. I don’t care what anyone says, we have this nailed, it will come out.”
For the science hungry readers she tweeted this: “Our mito alone is 16.5 Kb on the samples. Our nuDNA is 3 genomes/three individuals and is 3 Terabytes of data and billions of bases,” which followed this tweet, “After all they accepted a new species of monkey (below) with less than 6.8 kilobases of sequence.”
And finally to all those who believe or want to believe she tweeted: “I really appreciate all of the support. Let the hecklers have their day, who cares. Our science is over-killed beyond reason.”
So is she for real?
Or is she just a promoter out for herself? It might take awhile for anything of hers to be published. But stay tuned for her next promotion.

It really just makes me laugh with disgust, it is so obviously a good forensic study of a new species. The only thing standing in the way is the name Bigfoot or Sasquatch. Everything else is legitimate science, what the hell is wrong with these people? Just look at the study which I HAVE. Be a Scientist, look at the paper!!
She did keep quiet if you cared to read or listen to entire statements. This was originally leaked by a researcher in Russia, that was on her team and could not keep his mouth shut. She had everyone on her team as well as media sign NDA’s NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS in case you didn’t know what that is. She only came out with the info when the media attacked her due to the leak. you really should get your facts straight before making comments like that. I for one, have no dog in the hunt, but we as scientists cannot behave this way when new science is introduced. Does it really matter HOW it is introduced if the science is well done?
Oh my god!! A befitting cliche for the remarks offered by the “scientists” in this video. Dr. Ketchum has done a prestine job with all samples afforded her pertaining to the Sasquatch study, as well as nearly a dozen other labs; one being Texas A&M for Christs’ sake. Each evaluation of the samples has conclusively proven a novel hominid. Yet, with all of these facts in front of them, our country’s “best” “scientists” try their best to persuade the layman to ignore Dr. Ketchum’s study results. COWARDS!! The entire round table in the video is comprised of COWARDS or worse still – ignorant failures. One light to follow out of this darkness….the average American citizen is far too bright and inquisitive to pay any attention to COWARDS such as these. Good luck Dr. Ketchum !!! May the truth push you thru and beyond our current bullshit status quo ass-sucking scientific community. We love your work!!!
I would like to believe, but all the evidence turns out to be lacking. This particular study sounded promising until Ms. Ketchum’s statements and tweets came out. She seems more interested in promoting herself than in letting the research go through the normal processes before it’s presented officially to the media. Instead, even before the findings are published, she’s presenting it to the media. And her research “team” is lacking in members. Who are the other scientists that worked with her? What are their backgrounds? Perhaps this will prove worthy. But right now, it looks like another hot air balloon.
I’m not a professional scientist, but even I know that if you make a wild claim in a press release before peer-reviews are published, you will get laughed at and ridiculed – whether you’re right or wrong. And you most certainly don’t complain about science being too rigid. If people don’t believe you, you storm away and gather better evidence. That’s all you can do. Proof, or STFU.
Bigfoot may be real, or not real. You can believe either way if you want, you can even have a family of bigfoot living in your attic, but until you prove it in a way that other scientists agree, it’s classed as complete and utter bullshit. Even if it’s true.
A real scientist who found proof of bigfoot would keep quiet, and later shock the world with a peer-reviewed paper that was irrefutable, and clean up on movie deals and the lecture circuit. Not the press release first, then the evidence. That’s PT Barnum stuff – mermonkeys and angel skeletons…
Agree. It IS PT Barnum.
Do you actually know what peer review is? How it works and what are the standards? Fact is there are none. It is a highly flawed and proven imperfect process, and it is entirely casual. There is no actual stamp which says “PEER REVIEWED” People who use the term to denigrate any research, are saying nothing except that they have no idea what is going on here.
I do not necessarily have an opinion yet on the matter of Ketchum/s work, and I am dismayed at the way it is being presented at least, however I am not going to wait till every sceptic agrees it has receieved some sort of magical “Peer Review” to make it stand up. Either you can understand and follow what is being presented, or you cannot. The concept of “Peer Review” is nothing but a placebo for those who can’t follow the science.
It would be refreshing if all the nay-sayers would hold their fire until the paper is actually published. There have been extravagant claims about what’s in the paper, countered by extravagant claims for “science”: and it all looks like fantasies. Let Dr. Ketchum’s work be published, then we can discuss it.
If the chief researcher held her comments until after the paper is published, then I’d agree.
Please read my reply to Dean Spencer (above)
Finally a scientist with over 25 years of DNA work is able to verify the reality of this species. This is a momentous occasion for science and mankind. Well done Dr. Ketchum!
The lady’s a liar and a fraud. Anyone who actually believes Bigfoot exists is either misinformed, or just plain stupid.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE OF THE FOLLOWING
INFORMATION, As reported in the PRweb in Seattle WA at
http://www.seattlepi.com,
“The team, led by Dr. Melba S.
Ketchum, DVM, of DNA Diagnostics in Nacogdoches, TX, sequenced the
three whole nuclear genomes using the next-generation Illumina HiSeq
2000 platform at University of Texas, Southwestern from a tissue
sample, a saliva sample, and a blood sample. The three genomes all
attained Q30 quality scores above 88 on the Illumina platform,
significantly higher than the platform average of 85, indicating
highly-purified, single-source DNA with no contamination for each
sample. The three Sasquatch genomes align well with one-another and
show substantial homology to primate sequences.
NOTE: The Three Q30 Scores of the three
Genomes, with over 90 Gb of Raw seqence for each sample (Comprising
greater than 30x coverage) were 88.6, 88.4 and 88.7 respectively. The
Q30 is the percent of reads that have the statistical probability
greaer than 1:1000 of being correctly sequenced (According to
Illumina, a pure single source sample would have a Q30 score of 80 or
greater with an average of 85). Therefore, not only were the 3
sequences submitted from a single source, but the quality of the
sequences were FAR ABOVE the average 85 Score on genomes sequenced
using the Illumina Next Generation Sequencing Platform AT THE
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS Southwestern in Dallas, Texas”.
A Further comment was: “The high
quality of the Genomes can be attributed to the STRINGENT EXTRACTION
PROCEDURES UTILIZED WHEREBY THE DNA WAS REPEATEDLY PURIFIED”.
PLEASE NOTE: It would appear that the
Univesity of Texas Southwestern is rather sure that these are good
Genomes, and that they tested to be of very high quality. How could
you ask for more than that? It is time for the Skeptics to admit that
they were WRONG! It is a new Species.
You will not be able to find a
Geneticist who can argue with the results produced by the UNIVERSITY
OF TEXAS. NOT WITH THOSE HIGH Q30 scores. New species have been
accepted by Science with as little as 16 KB. Just a small number of
base pairs. The sample size here was 90 Gb for each of three samples.

Your rock solid and absolute knowledge of the truth, is impressive. Perhaps you could be given a psecial chair from which you can inform the scientific community of the merits of their research before they waste time actually doing it? You could save lots of wasted time, indeed maybe you could just committ your knowledge to a big text book and we can do away with science then.
