Pirates invade Baltimore – ‘Arrrrrgh!’
They call it the “Privateer Festival!” It’s held in the oldest part of B’more in a hood named, “Fell’s Point.”
A long time ago, like in 1726, they built ships at this site in the genre of “privateers,” such as the fabled “Baltimore Schooners.”
On the weekend of April 11th – 13th, however, a different note was struck. A festival was held that celebrated the area’s long and distinguished maritime history.
The pirates brought some lovely parrots and other birds, too, with them, and their “Arrrrrghing” was loud enough to wake the ghost of the founder of the locality – Captain William Fell. To learn more about this annual, fun-filled festival, click here.
