Jason Aldean throws his ‘Kind of Party’ at Jiffy Lube Live
Country rocker Jason Aldean bought his “Drive All Night Tour” to Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va., and offered up his mission statement midway through his set last week.
“I love Saturday night crowds, it’s always a party,” he said. “No one’s got to get up early tomorrow. Everybody stand your ass up, because we’re about to turn up, I’m about to drink this tequila, and we’re about to kick this into overdrive!” before launching into “My Kind of Party.”
Mission accomplished Jason, well before the announcement.
The crowd was on its feet already, singing along, drinking with gusto, dancing all over the lawn and throughout the pavilion.
Following two very well received performances from opening acts Carly Pearce and self-proclaimed Georgia Bulldogs superfan Kane Brown, the 90-minute, 24-song set by Aldean began with an up tempo “Take a Little Ride,” and mostly kept it loud and rocking, with a stream of heat throughout, the energy peaking on “Crazy Town,” “Burnin’ It Down, Lights Come On,” and “She’s Country.”
Aldean balanced the set and quieted the vibe for a few ballads including “Big Green Tractor,” “Drowns the Whiskey,” (which included a virtual duet with Miranda Lambert) and the first single from last year’s Rearview Town album “You Make it Easy.”
Aldean’s playlist drew from across his catalog, leaning heavier on his last two albums with nine songs, but playing music from every album except Relentless. He also gave fans a peek at what’s next with “We Back,” his new single being released this week.
Explaining that he doesn’t play encores because he doesn’t want to leave the stage, Aldean kept the music rolling right up to the 11:00 closing time, offering up a proud and strong “The Only Way I Know” for the night’s finale.
