Insomnia Cured: Best night sleep ever
Insomnia is no joke.
When you don’t get enough sleep, it means your whole day is affected. When I get just 3-4 hours, which is common, I am so very tired, lethargic, grumpy and unmotivated. When I sleep well, which is rare, I feel amazing.
Like fitness and nutrition, sleep is a fundamental part of your well-being. If I don’t sleep, I have to cat nap in the day, then I miss out on exercising, or doing the jobs I need to get done, or I eat badly, which is a vicious circle to fall into.
The Sleep Foundation reports this about insomnia:
- Forty-eight percent of Americans report insomnia occasionally, while 22 percent experience insomnia every or almost every night.
- Women are 1.3 times more likely to report insomnia than men.
- People over age 65 are 1.5 times more likely to complain of insomnia than younger people.
- Divorced, widowed and separated people report more insomnia.
My insomnia is slightly anxiety related, and I am sure people who know me would be surprised to hear that. But there it is: my brain can’t switch off, and I’ve tried all sorts of things – pen and paper to make notes of things that are bothering me, soothing music, darkened room, no laptop before bed, and I’ve even been a guest on the Dr Oz show to get some advice from a sleep therapy expert.
But recently I promoted some new and interesting products on ABC 7 News, WJLA’s Good Morning Washington that were aimed at helping with sleep patterns, healthier sleep and general insomnia. I had to get up at 5. 15 a.m. to make the show and I last looked at the clock that morning at 1. 35 a.m.
I was so taken with the ‘Juve-Rest ® Sleep Wrinkle Pillow’ and the ‘Take Shape for Life Habits of Healthy Sleep Set’, which were amongst the items that I was talking about, that I decided to see if they would work for me, Mrs. Insomniac.
Let me tell you this: I have not had such an amazing night’s sleep as I did last night when I used both products for the first time. I feel great today (apart from the root canal I had to endure this morning!!).
Last night I slept from 930 p.m. till 5.30 a.m. (that’s a lot of hours all in one go for me!) and then after 10 minutes of relaxing on my new pillow I went back to sleep till 710am. Unheard of for me!
So, what are these new insomnia-free products?! Well, The Habits of Healthy Sleep Set supports rejuvenating slumber with the following items that come in beautifully presented box: Restfulmind™ Herbal Sleep Tea, Chilltime™ Theanine Supplement Gum, Melatonin, and a plush mask and foam earplugs to block light and sound. If I got this as a gift I would be so happy.
The tea is slightly peppermint in taste, and I like it very much. My son watches me chew the gum, and asks if he can have a piece of ‘candy’. I advise him against it, though Lord knows he could do with something to get him off to sleep some nights! And then I pop a Melatonin, load on the face mask and pop in the ear plugs. I go straight to sleep! I don’t even hear my husband come in later that night!
My restful night’s sleep is aided by the comfiest thing I have ever encountered on the entire planet. Kudos to the co-founders of the Juve-Rest ® pillow, Dr Goesel Anson and Cynthia Callendar, for coming up with this genius pillow. They have created something that works miracles. Firstly, it helps to prevent facial compression and distortion during sleep (did you know our wrinkles often come from our sleep time because of the way we sleep on our pillows!?!). Now with the Juve-Rest ® I can literally get my ‘beauty sleep’! It also encourages comfortable back and side sleeping, of which I do both, because he shape of it minimizes contact between your face and the pillow.
A pillow that helps with anti-aging and a fantastic night’s sleep! This is what I’ve been dreaming of!
I love sleep so very much, and I really have craved it. Often, if my son and husband are out in the day and I have time to myself I’ll take the chance to sleep. But now I have the ultimate sleep aids to achieve replenishing, restful and rejuvenated sleep during the night with the Habits of Healthy Sleep set and the Juve-Rest ® pillow, so I hope I can forgo my intrusive cat napping in the day and just sleep well at night as I did last night. Long may my wonderful sleep habits now continue.
Sleep well, one and all – I know I will.
