LYRICS
Turned the TV on the other day
Saw that my city was up in flames
Cars burn, glass shattered, police on the street
Tell me how did it get this way?
Black and white and green divide us
Neighborhoods are turning into war zones
Feels like my city’s pacing it’s own cage
We’re not even safe in our own homes
Brothers dying
Mothers crying
Stop the violence
End the silence NOW
Let’s make it better
Stand up today
Let’s make it happen
There is a way
We can unite our hearts with love
Helpless, homeless without love inside
People all around us living in pain
Everyone’s talking no one’s listening
No more asking, time to be the change
Bullets flying
Leaders lying
Stop the violence
End the silence NOW
Let’s make it better
Stand up today
Let’s make it happen
There are is a way
We can unite our hearts with love
RAP:
We gotta stand up, fight for our community
Gotta do it together because it takes you and me
Each one, teach one, speak for actions fluently
Me and you united, yeah, that’s unity
It doesn’t matter that the fight is long
Everybody build to make everyone strong
We gotta do it together, we gotta stand tall
We gotta work for better, and we’ll never fall
Hunger burning
People hurting
Stop the violence
End the silence NOW
Let’s make it better
Stand up today
Let’s make it happen
There is a way
We can unite our hearts with love
Let’s make it better
Stand up today
Let’s make it happen
There is a way
We can unite our hearts with love
Outro:
Let’s make it happen!
Stand up today
Let’s make it happen!
There is a way

#Song4Unity is a project designed to bring unity to our communities through music. Inspired by the events in Baltimore in 2015 and recognizing that musicians are the gatekeepers for our universal language of music which truly unifies us all, Sahffi Lynne started the project by gathering 15 Baltimore songwriters from multiple genres in the fall of 2015 to write a “#Song4Unity.” “Let’s Make it Happen” (Baltimore #Song4Unity) is a result of over 50 people from all different walks of life coming together to create a song of love and unity for our community of Baltimore. ALL proceeds of the song when purchased on Bandcamp (http://www.song4unity.bandcamp.com) will go directly to #SaveADopeBoy (http://www.saveadopeboy.com), a grassroots organization in Baltimore helping young men find and keep gainful employment.
The project continues: a #Song4Unity Junior song has been written by the 6th graders at Catonsville Middle School, and musicians from Wilmington, DE, Nashville and New York City have expressed interest in writing their own #Song4Unity. It’s our hope our music helps open our collective minds and hearts to the larger awareness of UNITY.
