Sound Off Live as bands compete for Artscape slot
The Metro Gallery at 1700 North Charles Street, just north of Penn Station, was the site Thursday for music bands to show off their unique sounds and talent.
It’s competition time for band slots for Artscape 2013, which selects 25 groups.
Thirteen of the bands were up for review Thursday and the remaining twelve will get their chance Friday evening from 5 to 10 p.m. A panel of three volunteer judges will make the decision of who makes the final cut.
It’s hard to believe but this is the 32nd annual Artscape festival. And, it’s coming up soon – from July 19-21, on Mount Royal Avenue and North Charles St.
The gala event, one of the finest of its kind in the country, is produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts. The winners of the band competition will be announced at a press conference on Tuesday, May 28th, along with their “performance times.”
The twenty-three photos reflect the work of four of the bands who are competing, along with a few shots of the Metro Gallery and environs.
